How to Organize and Display Your Collectables
Displaying your collectables in your home is a fun way to celebrate the journey that led you to each one, but if your collection’s display area feels a little lackluster it’s time to do some rearranging.
Your display area doesn’t have to be boring. Like the rest of your décor you want your collectables to fit nicely in their own designated area.
The first step towards a nice area for your collectables is to limit the number of knickknacks you display in your home. Instead of overcrowding your shelves store half of your items in a safe place and display a smaller number of items at a time. Swap out your stored items every now and then. You’ll enjoy the excitement of feeling like you have a new collection every time you swap out pieces. Your guests will also think that your collection has grown when they see pieces they haven’t seen before.
Space out your collectables giving each of them plenty of room to be admired. Hang them or display them on shelves in an orderly fashion. Add a little drama to your display by arranging shadow boxes or a shelving unit on an entire wall in your home.
Help your collection flow with the rest of your home’s décor by taking colors from your knickknacks and incorporating them in other areas throughout the room. It’s a subtle pop of color that doesn’t overwhelm the room and better showcases the collectables.
Take good care of your collection by giving it a thorough dusting on a regular basis. To save yourself some time and to help yourself enjoy the dusting process you can swap out pieces of your collection every time you dust.
