What is a conversation piece?

A conversation piece is something that catches the eye. It’s a piece in your home that stands out and is unlike anything people have seen before. Conversation pieces are what make your home truly unique. After all, your style tells the story of who you are, what you like and where you’ve been. There are a lot of conversations to be had about your unique style.

Take the picture above for instance. Imagine all the great stories you and your guests could share while standing in front of such a beautiful piece of art. You could talk about where you’re from, where you’ve traveled to and where you’d like to go. Maybe you’d even be able to plan trips with your close friends inspired by your world map.

Conversation pieces don’t have to be large. They can be as small as a little trinket adorning your coffee table. Anything that catches the eye and sparks great conversation is worth having in your home.

Wherever you showcase a conversation piece it should be the center of attention. For instance, a small trinket displayed on a coffee table shouldn’t be surrounded by a clutter of other trinkets. Let your conversation pieces stand alone while also fitting nicely among the rest of your décor.

Picking a great conversation piece.

Don’t overthink a conversation piece. Pick something that you love and that catches your attention.

For a large piece of art like the one pictured above make room by clearing an entire wall. As you can see, the designer does not over clutter the area and lets the map take center stage. Because there’s not a lot of furniture underneath the map people are able to walk right up to it and get an up close view. Giving guests the room to interact with your conversation pieces lets them enjoy them that much more.

Enjoy the conversations!
